Good Morning and welcome to Grannyoops Kitchen It will take awhile to get our favorite recipes on here, so we will start with a family favorite that no one has ever said 'yuk' to. Everyone likes it so far. Before I start let me tell you this, I love to cook and bake and my family loves to eat it. So, if it sounds good, try it. |
Li'l Cheddar Meat Loaves ~~~~~~~ |
1 egg 3/4 cup milk 1 cup (4 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese 1/2 cup quick cooking oats 1/2 cup chopped onion 1 tsp. salt or Lawrys seasoned salt 1 pound lean ground beef ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2/3 cup catsup 1/2 cup packed brown sugar 1-1/2 tsp prepared mustard |
In a bowl, beat the egg and milk. Stir in cheese, oats, onion and salt. Add beef and mix well. Shape into 8 li'l loaves; place in greased or sprayed 13x9x2 inch baking dish. Combine catsup, brown sugar and mustard; spoon over loaves. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until meat is no longer pink and a meat thermometer reads 160 degrees. Yield: 8 servings. |
* Note from Grannyooops * Personally, I double this recipe and it makes enough for 2 meals for Walt and I and some extra to give our grown kids or to freeze for a quickie meal sometimes. Also, I do use the seasoned salt and I use only the old fashioned oats. Sometimes use a bit more ground beef and get 9 li'l loaves, or 18 if doubled.. My family rates this recipe :

1 Bag Slaw Mix (shredded cabbage) 1 cup sunflower seeds 1 cup almonds - sliced or slivered 1 bunch green onions, sliced 2 pkgs Oriental Flavored Ramen Noodles (UNCOOKED) And broken up a bit. Do not put seasoning packets in now. That comes later.
Toss above ingredients well. |
Dressing:
3/4 cup oil 1/3 cup sugar 1/4 cup red wine vinegar 2 seasoning packets from noodles
Mix well and add to noodle mixture. Toss to coat all noodles. Noodles will soften quickly

Recipe above is a nice, cold side dish or salad for summer. Tasty and different. Enjoy! |
1 box devils food cake mix, baked according to directions on box, in 13x9 pan. When cool,
Melt: 1 stick oleo or butter Add and mix well:1/2 cup cocoa (Hersheys) 1/2 cup powdered sugar 2 Tbsp. or more brandy (I use Baileys Irish Cream) 1 cup GROUND walnuts or pecans |
Crumble baked cake with fingers in large bowl, add chocolate sauce. Mix well. Form into 50 walnut sized balls. When all balls are formed dip one at a time into 1 lb. MELTED CHOCOLATE. Let dry good on waxed paper.
*Note: I have used Eagle Brand Candy coating but much prefer the chocolate buttons you can get at cake decorating or some craft stores. Also one time I put them on metal cooling rack to dry after dipping.. they stuck! |
If you like chocolate you will love these cake truffles. Also I put in enough Irish Cream to taste. |
The rest of my recipes will be on their own pages so it won't take so long to load this page, as I have lots of them to get on here eventually. An index of more recipes will be listed below. Hope you like some of them. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ |
